July Update
A brief update about dollmob's future
Dear Endless Void,
It's July.
Obviously, the site is a bit out of date and I've decided not to proceed with another beta.
There a few reasons for that, but the most interesting one is that Dollmob is adopting a more maker-centric identity and needs some significant updates before it's ready to be tested.
Changes to Marketplace
I'll be modifying the Marketplace for de-stashing, clothing sales and made-to-order/commissions and dropping doll sales. There are already plenty of other channels for doll sales, which means the maintenance burden for a team of one isn't justified.
Users will still have the option to generate and keep receipts and track orders for payments exchanged off platform, but the features will be designed for trading collections like closet items and supplies. These integrations already exist, so it's a pretty straight-forward scope cut.
What's on Deck
Faceup Studio
Faceup Studio is still a work in progress. In brief, users upload a photo of a doll head and can apply presets or manually create faceup previews with painting tools, a symmetry ruler and editable feature placement. For more information see the last blog post.
Hire A Maker
Offer your services as - or commission the services of - a tailor, artist, 3d modeler, 3d printer, silicone mold maker, resin caster, faceup artist, wig maker, photographer, social media expert, video editor, influencer, arduino wizard, LED lighting champion, woodcrafter, stylist - or other talent.
Creating a space for these services in the context of the doll community will help users find craftspeople with doll-specific experience.
Commons
A new user area for sharing free resources related to doll crafting like 3d prints, tutorials, sewing patterns, Photoshop or CSP brushes, software plugins and config files for speeding up common workflows, etc.
