Comparing Carbon Footprint, Data & AI Practices
If you don't want AI being a part of your user experience, training on the content you generate, and you care about the environment, this should matter to you:
Per Visit
dollmob.com ............................ 0.05g CO2
reddit.com.................................. 0.26g CO2
discord.com............................... 1.13g CO2
Per Year (daily * est. visits per day * 365)
dollmob.com ............................ 0.05g < 10/day * 365 = 182.5
reddit.com ................................. 0.26g - 116 million * 0.26 * 365 = 30,160,000
discord.com............................... 1.13g - 30 million * 1.13 * 365 = 12,373,500,000

Reddit and Discord didn't start out using AI because it wasn't available.
No one can say if they would or would not have, and their impact on the environment, peoples' wellbeing, and the art world are far greater than any indie project could ever achieve, even if it tried.
I built dollmob.com as an alternative to social media because I want to do something positive with my skills and the AI tools that empower me to build big dreams. I use them responsibly and I'm accountable for the consequences.
If you attack me and continue to use these platforms, you're a hypocrite and a liar.
Dollmob isn't going anywhere. Eventually the people who mean what they say, stand up for what's right, are honest about their own impact on the world, and who care about other humans and artists will find their way here.
Or maybe not, and I'll have built the most feature-rich, over-engineered personal website in the history of the internet and called out some bullies. That doesn't mean they'll have won, because the facts laid out here will still be true, my footprint will still be smaller, and I'll never have to wish I'd been more kind.
